"When he first saw her"
This is a scene that I wrote, it's about my character Artemis and his mother (Artemis is just a little boy in this scene). In this scene, they're both sitting down by the river, and Artemis' mother tells him stories about humans. Why humans you might ask? It's because Artemis and his mother are demons. They're called Densay demons. But you will hear more about that later. Now, enjoy the scene;

"Artemis and his mother sat down by the river, it was a warm and beautiful day. Like always, Artemis' mother told him stories about humans and their way of living. Artemis, had never met a human. Although Densay demons resembles humans, it was not quite the same thing. He loved to hear the stories from his mother, she was like a best friend to him. She had a calming voice, sometimes so calming that he could fall into other thoughts while she was telling her stories...

- Artemis? Are you listening to me?, his mother asked.
- Whaa.. what? Oh! Yes mother, I am listening.
- Did you fall into other thoughts again?
- Yeah.. But don't I always mother? Your stories brings me to another reality.
- Well maybe I should stop then, so you don't loose yourself.

She had that warming smile on her face, that kind of smile that would fill your whole heart with joy.

- No mother, don't stop, you know I love your stories.
- Yes my son, I know.
- Mother... Have you ever, met a human?

She became quiet. Her smile faded a little, but in a second it was back again.

- Why do you ask that?
- Well you know so much about them, and.. well I was just wondering.
- I have lived for a long time Artemis, I've seen things you couldn't even imagine. And yes, I have met humans.
- Really?! What are they like? Are they like in your stories?
- Some of them are, yes. Others are, different.

She stood up and walked towards the water. Artemis noticed a change in her face.. sadness?

- Mother, is everything alright?

She was quiet, as she looked down at her reflection in the river.

- I.. envy humans.
- Envy humans? Why's that mother?

She looked back at her son.

- Because of their beauty.

They both stood quiet. Artemis ran up to his mother and embraced her.

- But you are beautiful mother! You have no reason to envy humans, you're good and warm, while they are cold-hearted and weak!

Artemis' mother grabbed both of his arms in a tight grasp and stared at him, and he felt the anger in her eyes.

- What did you just say? Who told you that?
- Eldritch did... H-he told me tha-
- Don't you ever listen to what you're brother tells you! He thinks he knows everything about humans but he doesn't, so whatever he tells you about them, ignore it you hear me?!

Artemis was scared. He withdrew himself from his mother's grip and fell to the ground. She sat down in front of him, looked him in the eyes and caressed his cheek.

- I'm sorry my son, I didn't intend to become so angry. But please, don't listen to your brother, okay?
- Y-yes mother...
- Good. You see, humans aren't bad, at least not all of them.
- And yet you envy them?
- ... Yes, I do.
- I don't understand why you envy them, what's so special with their beauty anyway?
- Well, to begin with, they don't have horns or wings. Their skin is like silk, and their hair.. oh their hair.
- I still don't understand why...

She looked at him and smiled. Suddenly she grabbed his arm and ran in behind the trees.

- Mother, what are yo-
- Shh, be quiet.

She looked around, like see was looking for someone.

- Artemis, you have to promise me something.
- What is it?
- What I am about to show you, you can't tell anyone. Not your friends, not the elders and-
- Not Eldritch?
- Especially not Eldritch. Not to anyone, promise me that?
- I promise mother.
-Good, now, grab a hold of me.

Artemis grabbed a hold of his mother and they took air. They flew high up in the sky, so they could see all over the forests and rivers.
Artemis gasped at how wonderful the view of the forests was from the sky, and he could not wait until his own wings had grown into it's fullest strength so that he could be high up into the sky like this every day. They landed on a cliff above a forest glade. They stood on the edge of the cliff and peered down.
Artemis looked at his mother.

- Mother, what are we looking at?
- Just wait, it's almost time.
- Time for wha-
- Shh my son, look, down there.

Artemis frowned, and turn his head around, staring down from the cliff.
Wait, there's someone down there. It was a young girl. Artemis suddenly felt as if he was bewitched, what in the world was this feeling? He's finally got to see a human! And what's this? A song? Yes, the girl started to sing. She had a beautiful voice, and Artemis couldn't stop staring at her.

- Who is she?, Artemis said with a sort of shiver in his voice.
- Her name is Maria. Maria Darwin. She's the daughter of the great duke, Thomas Darwin.
- Maria.. she's so, beautiful..

Artemis couldn't resist to look at the beautiful girl who sat down there all by herself.
But then he swiftly turned his head and looked at his mother with a frown.

- But mother.. how do you know her?

She became silent. And Artemis felt like his mother just told him something that she shouldn't have.

- I.. I can't tell you that..
- Mother?
- We have to go now Artemis. Please, don't return to this place ever again.
- But mother, I-
- Artemis, please, do what say!

Artemis stared at the ground.

- Yes mother.., he said with a low voice.

His mother kneeled down in front of him, grabbed his hand and kissed it.

- You have to understand my son, this is how it has to be. I just wanted to show you humans. Now, we have to go back, before someone starts looking for us.

Artemis walked back to the edge of the cliff.
He admired her beauty, her voice, and her surroundings.

- Maria Darwin.. Someday, I hope I'll meet you in person.

And then they left the cliff, the glade, and the girl.

- Hm? ... Was someone looking at me?, Maria said,
and stared at the spot where Artemis and his mother just left.

- Strange.. I could've sworn tha-

- Maria! Come on we have to go!, shouted Marias older sister, Layla.

- Coming!"
